Dunfee shines with bat and bal

WHITLAND'S resurgence in the Antur Insurance Pembroke County Cricket League continued with a big win at Lawrenny, who were dismissed for 124 in response to a total of 264-7. David Dunfee had an outstanding innings of 149 not out with eight sixes and 12 fours, supported by Matthew Davies (33) and Paul Davies (25).

The Whitland bowlers then took control, with skipper Mark Lee (4- 28), spinner Paul Webb (3-29) and Dunfee (2-3) getting among the batsmen.

Narberth held out for a draw at 150-8 after visitors Neyland reached 197-7. Kyle Quartermaine took 3-56 for Narberth. Opener Andrew Williams (31), skipper Richard Adams (21) and Mike Scale (20) hit the bulk of the runs for Narberth, with Ben Quartermaine and Matthew Johns holding out at the end despite the efforts of spinner Andrew Miller (5-29). Whitland Seconds reached 182-9 but still lost by five Women's pumps wickets at home to Hook, who responded with 183-5. Owain Evans scored 76 for Whitland, supported by Carl Smith (26no).

For Hook, Tom Blaxland made 70 not out despite Steve Vale's 4- 42.

Llechryd, bottom of division three, are catching up with teams above them and scored 237-5 at Hundleton. Steve Smith (80), John Curran (33), Richard Connolly (31), Charlie Welch (30no) and skipper Graham Keen (27) batted well.

Hundleton held out for a draw at 182-7. Adam Maehrlein and Richard Connolly each took two wickets for the visitors.

Crymych scored 250-7 away to Johnston Seconds, with skipper Eurig Lewis (82) with eight sixes Tory burch flats and five fours sharing a fourth-wicket stand of 147 with Rhydian Wyn (44).

Openers Rob Nicholas (29) and Elgan Vittle (28) gave the visitors a solid start as Liam James picked up three wickets.

Johnston recovered from 19-3 courtesy of a fifth-wicket partnership of 100 by Nick Davies (59) and Bob Nelson (43).

Eurig Lewis (5-42) had a good all-round day and David Deardon (3- 37) also chipped in, but the final Johnston wicket proved elusive and the game ended with the home team on 168-9. Fishguard scored 218- 3 at home to Narberth Seconds, David Haynes scoring 113 not out and Ben Watson 48, supported by Sam Kurtz (39no).

Narberth Seconds were dismissed for 163 despite the efforts of Mike Williams (35), Owen Richards (32), Richard Howell (27no) and Kyle Keane (26).

Kilgetty recovered from 93-8 to win by one wicket away to Hook Seconds after a boundary-laden innings from Henry Probert (20no).

Bradley Flood (4-25) triggered the Kilgetty collapse. Earlier, Hook had hit 112-9. Jake Marsh and skipper Anthony Bevan each took 3- 28 for the visitors.

In the local derby at Llanddewi Velfrey, visitors Narberth Thirds scored 177 before being dismissed, Emyr Jenkins 52, Brynley Toms 42 and Matthew Davies 23. Whitland skipper Gwynne Phillips (5-21) and Jack Bowen (3-46) picked up most of the wickets.

Whitland Thirds reached 150-8 after Dafydd Evans scored 50 and Ashley Evans 22.

Toms and Huw Simpkins each took three of the Whitland wickets.

Llechryd Seconds had their first win of the season after scoring 188-9 at home to Llangwm Thirds.

Michael Carter (55) and Tom Davies (37) had an opening stand of 95 and Rhys Beard followed up with 50 not out.

Henry Thomas took 5-51 for the visitors, who were bowled out for 126. Beard
