ENTREPRENEURS are being offered advice with getting started in business as part of a Pounds 5 million scheme. Firms in Leicestershire are being invited to contact the Co-operative Enterprise Hub, which has been set up to provide training and finance across the East Midlands.

The scheme will be run by various organisations, led by The Co- operative and Social Enterprise Development Agency (Case-da), and is aimed at co-op businesses, which are owned and controlled by staff.

Dorothy Francis, chief wholesale lingerie executive Replica Chanel Shoes of Case-da, said; "The UK now has just under 5,000 jointly-owned and democratically-controlled co- op businesses providing jobs for 237,000 people.

"We want to help this to grow even more because we feel that co- operatives are good for individuals and neighbourhoods."
